Welcome!

The University of Hertfordshire is delighted to be hosting The European Week of Astronomy & Space Science which incorporates both the 2009 NAM and 2009 JENAM. This year, being the International Year of Astronomy, is a particularly important year, and we hope that the meeting will provide the opportunity to show-case European astronomy, space science and planetary science, not only to the community but also to the public.

All talks are now individually time-tabled on the relevant symposia/session web pages. The conference Abstract Book is now available in PDF format, as is a summary programme and a programme listing individual talks.

News: Late Registration

Late registratio is still possible until 16th April, however, late abstract submissions will only be accepted as posters until 6th April and will not be included in the Abstract Book after 23rd March.

News: Michael Foale (NASA Astronaut) to close professional part of the conference

Michael Foale a British-born NASA astronaut with a Ph.D. in astrophysics and a veteran of six Space Shuttle missions, is to close the professional part of the conference with a public lecture on Thursday 23rd April.

News: Lord Drayson to open EWASS

Lord Drayson, UK Minister of State for Science & Innovation, has accepted an invitation from Professor Andy Fabian, President of the RAS, to open the meeting. As the welcome and opening ceremony will now be extended, the times of all other sessions on Monday will be later than shown in the Science Programme Table. The Table will be updated when timings are more certain.

News: 5-a-side Football Tournament now open!

The infamous JENAM 5-a-side football tournament starts at 18:00 on Monday 20th April and will be held on the outdoor pitches behind the Hertfordshire Sports Village on the de Havilland Campus, which are a 5 minute walk from the conference venue. News: SCAP Lunch

The traditional SCAP meeting will be held over lunch on Thursday 23rd April. This gives an opportunity for a wider participation than occurs with the recently introduced Astronomy Forum, which has just one representative from each university.

News: Conference badges

Your conference badge will be coded to provide entry for lunches (for all those registered), dinners (for those staying on campus) and any social events you have paid for. The badge must be worn at all times in order to gain entry to ANY of the programme.
