Project Description

Work on the spectroscopic follow up, both optical and NIR, to confirm spectroscopically the planetary nature of candidate transits from WTS, PanPlanets and OmegaTrans. The following tasks will be important: (i) Low-resolution optical/NIR spectroscopy to nail down the spectral type of the planet star, using LRS on HET, Lucifer on LBT, Twin on CalarAlto, etc, using standard spectroscopic software available at MPE. (ii) Time-constrained high-resolution spectroscopy with HRS on HET, UVES/Flames on VLT and/or CRIRES, to get radial velocity measurements of the systems and metallicity measurements of the stars. Available software should be tested and further developed on a set of HET spectra already acquired for the purpose. (iii) Analysis of the RV curves to further assess blends and derive orbit parameters.
